Discover Unique Winter Décor Tips for Your New Rio Grande Valley Home

While temperatures are still mild in South Texas during our lovely winters, it can be a bit cooler for year round residents. For those that live seasonally in one of our Bentsen Palm communities, you may want some ideas to freshen up your home with new décor this winter.  We’ve pulled a few of our favorite tips together for helping you put a unique spin on winter décor in your new Rio Grande Valley home this winter

Starting from scratch? Make a plan and map it out – your new home will most likely be a different layout than your present home.  Starting with the bedroom, make a map of the rooms with your present furniture to see what will fit and what you will need to buy new.

Choose the right furniture – if your present furniture isn’t the right fit or look, one option is to reupholster or if you just want to start fresh look for pieces that are sturdy and will stand the test of time, nothing too trendy, but with personality that meets your style.

Unique furniture

Create openness – when arranging your furniture in each room, move seating away from the walls, make sure you do not block doors or walkways, or cover windows with overly elaborate window treatments – you’ll want to let the natural light in.

Give it a color pop – infuse pops of cheerful colors throughout your home to make it feel warm and inviting like colorful pillows and throws against neutral colors or try some bold window dressings to brighten things up.

Color Pop

Maximize natural light – hang mirrors on blank walls or above mantels to give off reflective light throughout your rooms.

Bring in the snow – so to speak with a collection of white glass in your dining hutch or place silver pieces throughout to give your home the sparkle of newly fallen snow.

Make it fluffy and warm – hardwood floors or tile floors are wonderful for easy care year round.  In cooler months dress them up with soft rugs to give more warmth and texture to your home.  You may want to even try layering thinner rugs with thicker rugs.

Bring in the scents of the season – site and smell go hand in hand and what better way to give your home the warm wintery feeling with the wonderful scents of cinnamon, pine, and apple, or whatever brings fond winter memories to mind.

Scents of the Season

Create your own elegant winter décor and make your new Rio Grande Valley home as unique and beautiful as you are with these helpful tips.
